Unknown Fabric

In August I bought the fabric for my dress. I found it at a wonderful independent store in Roseville California. I actually bought two fabrics, to keep my options open. One is a light blue acetate and the other is a green/blue I-can't-remember-what-kind-of-fabric-you-are. I was having second thoughts about the acetate because acetate isn't very durable and is prone to fade etc. Out of curiosity I started looking online to see what kind of fabric the other one might be, and I came across this great chart (click on to enlarge):

Some of them made me laugh, like what does celery smell like? Well I decided to try it, so I gathered all the supplies I would need, including known fabrics to test my identifications skills.

^What was left of the acetate fabric after burning it.

The unknown fabric melted and formed a black round bead so we figured it must be polyester. Yay! Polyester is very durable and agreeable to sew on!

*Note: do not try this indoors or by anything flammable, also, always wear a lab coat when doing potentially flammable science experiments as lab coats are made out of cotton which is self-extinguishing. Also if there is a fire nearby you can protect yourself with a wool blanket because wool is not flammable.
