Camera Strap

I had fun making an camera strap out of owl fabric for my friend's birthday and I decided to make one for myself also! I loosely followed this pattern.

 

E-reader Sleeve

 As a birthday gift for my brother I made him a protective sleeve for his Kobo E-reader.

Christmas Gifts 2011

Usually for Christmas I sew some of my gifts, but this year I was tired of sewing for the fashion show so I made some no-sew handmade gifts for my family.

Above is a dry-erase board made out of a picture frame with scrapbook paper in it for my brother's girlfriend. The print of the paper was actually too bold so I put a piece of wax paper on top of it to soften the look.

 I made the eraser out of foam and felt. I cut the blue foam in the shape of

a hippo and backed it with gray felt.

I super glued a piece of elastic to the side to hold the pen.

My mom and I also made felted soap to put in everyone's stocking. Felted soap is just wool felted around the soap. It is like having a washcloth on your soap.

We used this tutorial for our inspiration. Felted soap is most commonly done with wool roving (wool that has been washed, combed, and carded, as well as sometimes dyed in the stage before its conversion into yarn), but we did it with wool sweaters I had been collecting. We sewed the wool on to make sure it was secure before felting.

I also made raviolis filled with acorn squash for my dad and brother.

I had a wonderful Christmas with my family! Thanks to my dad I got a 55-200mm lens for my camera as an early Christmas present which I used for most of the above pictures! :)

Birthday Bag #2

This is the second bag I made. It was for my friend Heather's 16th birthday. I used this pattern.

 I made the bag reversible, this is one side-

 

 

 

 This is the other side-

The bag has an elastic loop and a button on each side for a closure. It is a great bag, one of the easiest things I have made in a long while! It is the perfect bag for a beginner, only two pattern pieces, and it is super cute! I want to make one for myself!

Birthday Bag #1

Recently I made two bags for my friends who turned 16. This one was for my friend Caroline.

 

The fabric^

(the teal flowered fabric on the top is what I used for the lining of the bag).

I made it with teal fabric, her favorite color. Her sister thought the bag was from the store because I put crumpled newsprint inside of it, just like when you buy a bag from a store!

Photo Board

This is a board I made for my friend's birthday in March 2010.

I covered a piece of cardboard with fabric and hot glued the ribbon in a criss-cross pattern. The board is placed inside of a lovely picture frame that I found at a thrift store!
