Dresses for Alethea and Brigid

I made these two beautiful dresses for my friend's two little daughters, Brigid (almost 1) and Alethea (age 6).



The delightful fabric I used is called "Birds of Norway". It was the first time I sewed something with fabric that had a top and a bottom, in other words, I had to make sure I didn't have any upside down birds!

Hand Printed Bag

I made this bag using the top of the skirt pattern from my Simplicity 3867 dress because I liked the pleats. I had some fabric picked out but I couldn't find any lining fabric so my mom suggested that I print my own fabric. I laughed and said that that would take a lot of work. But when it didn't look like we were going to the fabric store any time soon, I re-thought about my mom's idea.



I found a pattern I liked from an IKEA catalog and I made a foam stamp with the same pattern on it. I mixed together some fabric paint (awful smelling stuff my mom had acquired in the Philippines) to get just the right color. The whole process of printing took maybe two or three days. I was very pleased with how it turned out. So pleased in fact, that I decided to use my printed fabric as the outside of the bag. I actually made it reversible but I never used the other side!


I had originally planned to do a different style of handles but that didn't work out. I didn't have anymore green paint left so I had to buy some complementary fabric for the handles.


It is a great bag, it is very roomy and can hold just about anything! The one thing I don't like about it is that when I set it on the floor it has no shape and just becomes like a puddle! It has a free-hanging zippered pocket inside and a magnetic snap for a closure.

Clutch

This is a clutch I made to hold my wallet, keys etc. inside of my backpack. It was very easy and I finished it in one night!


It is made out of an upholstery sample. I didn't even need to cut the piece, I just folded and hand sewed it.

A Skirt for Ashlynn

I am currently in level five of my pattern making class. In this level I am learning to make children's clothes which is really fun! My first pattern out of real fabric also happened to be the first garment I have made for someone outside of my family! I made a cute little skirt for my youth pastor's daughter Ashlynn. She is a very lovely eight year old. Her mother bought me this cute fabric at Piece by Piece Fabrics.

Camera Case With a New Purpose

I made this camera case about a year ago based off of a camera case I saw on Etsy. It was really fun to make, but unfortunately turned out to be too large for my camera. Now I am finally using it to hold my Mp3 player and earphones!
